Former Town Council Member Launches KDale Times

Growing up in Knightdale, we had the Gold Leaf Farmer, a weekly newspaper, to cover local events. I remember they even reported scores from my rec league soccer games. I learned to
manually layout my high school newspaper as we published it out of their office in Zebulon (they also published the Zebulon Record). The paper transitioned to the Eastern Wake News before ultimately ceasing operations in 2017.
My inspiration comes from a local news site launched by Joe Mecca when he lived in Churchill. It had a positive impact on my life by letting me know about performances at Knightdale High School
before I had a son there. This is the impact I'm aiming for, to compile information about local events in a space people find relevant and return to on a regular basis.
Many articles may simply be taken from press releases. I'm not a professional journalist but I hope to ask the questions you would ask so you can more fully understand and connect with our community. This is a labor of love for me, not a business. I strive to serve you with integrity and community spirit. All I ask is that you extend me some grace as I learn, read once a week (or month), and share articles on your social media.
Please let me know if you have story or topic ideas.

Town to Honor Dr. King with Interfaith Service and Food Drive
In a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Chi Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is partnering with the Town of Knightdale to host an Interfaith Community Service event on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM. The gathering will take place at First and Main, located at 315 N First Avenue in downtown Knightdale.
The event invites residents of all backgrounds to come together in reflection, unity, and service—values deeply rooted in Dr. King’s vision for a just and compassionate society. Local faith leaders and community members will share messages of hope and solidarity, reinforcing the importance of collective action and mutual respect.
In addition to the service, organizers are leading a food donation drive to support the Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Packs. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable, child-friendly lunch items such as

ramen, mac & cheese cups, and Chef Boyardee meals. These donations will help fill weekend food gaps for children in need across Eastern Wake County.
The Town of Knightdale continues to champion inclusive events that foster civic engagement and neighborly care. All are welcome to attend and participate in this meaningful day of remembrance and giving.
